Georgia Rides - Bicycle Ride to the Capital

I hope you will consider joining me on March 22 as the Metro Atlanta Mayors Association (MAMA) will be hosting the Georgia Rides to the Capital event.  The event is to help shed light on bicycle safety and secure support for regional bike and pedestrian trails linking all of our cities.

There are 4 options for participation on Tuesday, March 22:

1. Bike ride from Decatur.  This is a 5-mile escorted (one-way only) ride starting at the north parking lot of the East Lake MARTA rail station to the State Capital.  Leaves Decatur at 10:45 am.

2. Bike ride from Roswell.  This is a 21-mile escorted (one-way only) ride starting at Roswell City Hall.  This is a hilly ride and family, beginner, and intermediate bikers are encouraged to not participate as it will be ridden at a 12 mph clip. Leaves Roswell at 9:45 am.

3. Hurt Park.  This is a ceremonial three-block escorted ride. Leaves Hurt Park at 11:30 am.

4. Capital Steps Press Conference.  Join us for the press conference on the capital steps at 11:50 am.

I am planning on taking part in the Decatur ride and hope to see you there.  Registation materials (free), routes, and additional information can be found on the Georgia Rides to the Capital site.

If you are planning on joining me, please drop me a note at brian.bates@doravillega.us so we can coordinate a meeting place and ride as a Doraville contigency.

Hope to see you on March 22nd!
